Diseases seen after a diaster

Here is a great video from Patriot Nurse. “5 diseases seen after a disaster.”

Patriot does a very good job at explaining these diseases. To add to her list I have come up with a few more important diseases everyone should recognize and study.

Hantavirus–from mouse droppings. 38% fatality rate

Leptospirosis– rodent urine found in warm stagnant water. 10% to 50% fatality rate.

Bubonic and Pneumonic plague– contacted by fleas that have previously bitten an infected rat.

Food poisonings– caused by spoiled or dirty food.

Heart attacks and strokes– caused by stress and over exertion.

Emerging diseases– Ebola, MRSA, H1N1 etc.
